My love affair with pastry started at a young age as I was obsessed with baking with my mom and reading Martha Stewart Magazine. After working several years in the Accounting industry, I knew I had to fulfill my lifelong dream to learn the art of pâtisserie from the best in the world. This pursuit let me to Le Cordon Bleu, Paris and a stint at one of the most popular éclair shops in the city.
I started Sweets by Shayda in 2014 after I moved back to my hometown upon completing the pastry diploma. My vision was to bring back the pasty culture I had discovered in France to the Triangle. And what better way to do that than start with French macarons! I started off in commercial kitchens and selling at the local farmers market. And for the past seven years, I have spent time perfecting our macarons and adding various pastries and cakes to the menu. I could not be happier to announce the opening of my first retail shop in Durham, NC!
